041: After the Move

I’m delighted to bring you another episode of the Adventures in Arting Podcast!  Mom and I recorded a multi-part pre-move podcast and now we are happy to share our multi-part post-move podcast!  Here are a few photos:

On the podcast we discuss how I feel in my new space, my new workflow, unpacking, physical labor, joining the local arts community, missing NYC, and towards the end we kind of wander off into a lengthy discussion about contemporary art and the ability to draw.  I hope you’ll come along for the ride and give the podcast a listen!

Be sure to leave us your comments and questions!  We’d love to add your voice to the conversation!

  1. Hi Julie and Mom:
Oh, how I’ve enjoyed listening to your podcast this evening, I had only planned to listen to a bit of it, and now I’ve found that I’m at the end, and I want more…

First, I am so happy to know that the two of you live so close to each other. Now, Julie, I’m smiling, and I’m no longer worried that you are all alone, and missing your previous life. You sound happy, and that’s a really good thing…

Love your Mom, love you, too!

  2. Dear Julie and Eileen,
I want to thank-you both for this podcast. My family and I have just moved from Australia to Cambodia. I have had my ups and downs so it was great to hear both your perspectives on moving. I especially enjoyed the suggestion to look at everything that has been achieved rather than what hasn’t.
I hope you continue to find your move invigorating, Julie. I think you need to go and buy another tape runner. It will ensure you don’t have such a break in your work flow.
    Rebecca

  3. Hi Julie and Eileen,
I love the podcast! I’m glad to hear, Julie, that your space is coming together – moving is such a project. You mentioned that you found a way to solve the carpet problem in your wet studio – what did you end up doing? By the way, I still have fond memories of that lovely hilltop house that I shared with you and Sharon G. at Jane Davies’ summer 2013 Vermont workshop. What a fun week that was!
    Best wishes,
    Cathy
